Ughhhhh

Dear Blog,

It shouldn't take longer to finish (sew, weave ends, etc) a knitting project then it took to actually knit it. Alas, that is the story with this stupid bag. Honestly, I'm not even sure I like the bag enough to use it (that may just be the overexposure to it talking.) If it wasn't for a certain someone riding my ass about it, I would shove it into a closet for 5 years time out. Grrrr...

Tuesday Check-in

In my last post, I listed four projects I was looking to finish up.

First up: My Daughter's Ruched Yoke Tee is finished. There is no pic of her in it. Right now it is a little too big, but here is what it looks like:



I also did a quickie project, a pair of earbud covers. So cute, so fast.







I also decided that the Koigu cowl I was knitting will be frogged. I am not a cowl person, so it's a waste of a gorgeous skein of yarn to finish this; I am reclaiming the yarn.

Works to be completed

I committed to going knitting with an old friend tonight. I am not entirely smitten with the idea. I love to go out knitting with people, because it gets me out of the house, away from distractions and I really do focus on knitting. However, tonight for various reasons, i'm in a bad mood and well... it's best left unsaid. (Also, its Tuesday and TBS has an office marathon and I’d rather be watching Ed Helms).

I wanted to post quick list of to-do items. I’m hoping that being putting this out here; I will keep myself honest and finish up. All four of these are started and I really want to put them behind me:

1. Knit-Picks Karin Tote: The bag is done & blocked. I just need to re-knit the straps. I can have the whole thing finished in a day including blocking the straps and sewing time.



2. Darling Daughter's Ruched Tee: This is knit, just needs an attached i-cord (which I did and ripped out) and to be blocked.



3. Darling Daughter's striped cardigan: This is my project for tonight. The pattern sucks, I had to frog about two dozen rows due to an error, if I make notes & re-knit that portion this afternoon, I should get the main body finished up tonight since once i'm past the shoulders it becomes a straightforward knit.



4. Koigu Cowl: After first breaking a needle in a car door. (DOH!) Then misplacing the pattern for three weeks, I'm finally back on track. Just need the time and ambition.
   
   I’m determined to update the finished status on at least 1 of these projects within the next week. In between Easter crafts with the child. Keep me honest and call me out if I don’t.

Flock of Sheep

My daughter is three and loves doing craft projects with me. She calls them “Artsy Arts and Crafts.”

Yesterday my sister called and asked if I could watch her Three year old while she took the baby to the doctor. No problem. I quickly decided that having both of them together was another opportunity to do yet another spring craft. After grabbing a few quick supplies: Some empty toilet tissue rolls, white glue, cotton balls, black felt, pipe cleaners and googly eyes, we were ready to roll.

I took the pipe cleaners and wrapped one on each end of the toilet rolls, then poured some glue into a paper plate for each girl. We dipped the cotton balls in the glue and placed them on the roll, covering the entire roll. When they were done, I helped them build the front and back by adding more cotton balls to the inside of the rolls at the very front and back, adding a few extra on the backside for fluffy tails. Using the black felt, I cut a face outline, and then had each girl pick which size eyes they wanted on their sheep and glued them to the felt when the felt dried; I attached the felt to the front of the sheep. I also cut little ears out to attach to separate cotton balls and put on each side of the head.



The girls loved them. My niece didn’t want to put hers down.
